January 2011 meeting : making a Casablanca bead

Our first meeting for 2011 If you want to do it again for those who were there or those you weren't  here is the link on Desiree McCrorey's page Je regrette je ne traduirai pas ce tuto. Je n'en ai pas fait la demande à l'auteur. Les images parlent d'elles- mêmes. We also had many discussions on the different methods that our teacher Suzanne showed us :  how to use the scrap clay from that demo, many exemples on thumbling ,sanding the clay, finishes... Chatoyant by Gail part 3

FAUX CHAROITE AND BRONZITEThe technique for faux charoite and bronzite is the same; only the color is different.  The technique is based on the instructions for burled red maple by Irene Semanchuk Dean in the book "Faux Surfaces in Polymer Clay".FAUX CHAROITECharoite is quite a variable stone, mostly purple, but it can also have patches of orange, and spots of white, black, and/or a silvery color.  Only the best quality charoite has chatoyant effects.  I developed my color recipe to match a quite bright purple... Chatoyant by Gail part 2

Following Gail's demo here is the second part Faux Tigereye Here are my color formulas and technique for faux tigereye.  This technique results in small sheets with a true striped chatoyant tigereye effect, where the stripes shift when you move the sheet in the light.  The technique is based on instructions provided in the book "Polymer Clay Beads" by Grant Diffendaffer. For the natural look of tigereye stone, I use Premo gold or Kato gold. Tigereye stone is sometimes dyed a red-brown color.  Here is the... [Lire la suite]

Teacher Louise and her lace bracelet

To do Louise's lace fimo bracelet you need different sizes of circles. Prepare a sheet of clay at the thickest setting long enough to go around your wrist TRICK:Work on your baking surface so you don't have to pick it up and distort it when lifting . Mark  delicately your clay with the biggest circles , making sure that each circle touches the other without overlapping. Then you make the inner circle pressing enough in the clay to be able to take it out. Use a x-acto blade to finish the border, you take out the...
