The first pro who came / Les premiers pros

I have been picking Ruth's memory to know more about US.

Here here what she told me about the first artist who came to teach polymer in Montreal.

He was Jamey Allen , he came in 1995 and 1996. The Guild was not formed yet.

You can find some of his work on Polymer clay archive.

He was a  bead maker then after discovering fimo he went on to make canes.

" In the early 90's and late 80's I was very involved in the bead world ..mostly with serious collectors at an International level..also was President of the board at the Visual Arts Center....In one of my meetings in  Santa Fe
-I met Jamey Allen ...a serious bead scholar who was trying to make
beads in the way the ancient Venetians and--other early glass bead makers...made the beads...he had some very frustrating years until a
friend brought him---some Fimo ..he experimented with the millefiore technique and fell in love with the product..he then started to teach in the
California area...
..

Jamey Allen came in 1995 and 1996 before the guild was formed.

Then came Tory Hughes with some new tools for polymer clay.

She suggested to the clayers to form a guild. The first meeting was on March the 18th, 1997.

Tory came twice in 1997 and 1998.

In a following  text you will learn about the other artists who have come to teach us since then.

&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&
